The Stewart
The Stewart is a luxury high-rise apartment community in downtown Phoenix, set at the corner of Central Avenue and Roosevelt, where old-school cool meets new luxury. Designed by CCBG Architects, the site carries a rich history as the former home of Circle Records and, before that, the Stewart Motor Company, known for its round showroom and rotating display car. CCBG’s design channels that legacy with a striking mid-century modern tower influenced by the bold Googie style. Circles, sweeping curves, and vibrant colors animate the 22-story silhouette, creating a dynamic presence on the Phoenix skyline. Inside, mid-century modern interiors extend the cohesive brand, appealing to a new generation of downtown renters.

Our interiors draw inspiration from the neighborhood’s architectural heritage. Warm wood paneling nods to the nearby Regency House, copper piping references the APS building, and deco details echo the downtown bank. By referencing historic design details, the space celebrates the site’s past while resonating with today’s residents. The Stewart’s branding and logo appear throughout the furnishings and finishes. In the lobby, historic plaques, vintage photos, and automotive accents tell the building’s story, creating a distinct and memorable brand presence in the marketplace.
The interiors were designed to bring an intentional lift in the luxury of materials and lifestyle to the old-school Roosevelt Row neighborhood. More luxurious, refined finishes and details mix to create a fresh sense of modern elegance. A retro-style terrazzo tile floor grounds the space, topped by a marble-wrapped concierge desk with walnut wood millwork. The adjacent lounge carries the neighborhood’s spirit forward with walnut paneling, creating a warm, street-side place to connect with the community. A custom sixteen-foot sofa anchors the room and offers multiple points of connection. Two Hans Wegner “Shell Chairs” (1963) in canary yellow become the focal point, allowing movable, flexible seating along the grand sofa. A Fortuny-style retro photo floor lamp leans into the front window, while a single canary-yellow abstract artwork punctuates the interior with bold style.
The Stewart’s signature amenity is its rooftop pool and resident club room. Debuting as the highest residential pool in Phoenix, it offers intimate views of the vibrant downtown skyline. Poolside, a sunning lounge features modern canary-yellow chaises, while seating groups with low fire pits hug the building’s edge, framing dramatic city vistas. Inside, the poolside lounge invites residents to play, party, and connect. A striking Mod-patterned fireplace anchors the room, flanked by a luxury wine wall designed for resident events. Billiards and game tables add layers of activity, while the lounge bar and catering kitchen showcase a laser-cut plywood wall in a yellow honeycomb pattern, illuminated by sculptural yo-yo–style light fixtures. The rooftop is a vivid expression of high-rise living—an urban experience residents dream of and discover every day.
