Solara Vista

Solara Vista, developed by Rivendell Development as their entry into the Phoenix market, is located at 32nd Street and Southern Avenue in the emerging South Mountain neighborhood. Todd and Associates Architects designed a Spanish Colonial exterior with soft arches, detailed ironwork, and Santa Barbara influences. Our interiors respond with a blend of authentic Spanish Colonial materials and patterns, layered across the architecture to define and warm the large interior spaces. The historic character of the site deepened during construction when ancient artifacts were uncovered, now displayed as part of the project’s story. The design connects a younger, upwardly mobile demographic to the region’s history and traditional architectural influences.

Concierge Leasing serves as the focal point of the future resident experience. The leasing suite opens into a luxurious lounge setting where a hotel-style reception desk creates an immediate impression and provides instant service. Adjacent leasing and management desks offer seamless handoff opportunities for personalized support. A beverage bar enhances the experience with hospitality-style service and customer interaction.

The interior design draws inspiration from authentic Spanish Colonial materials and architecture to create a strong sense of place. Antique terracotta tiles wrap the signage walls, while a marble slab concierge desk anchors the architectural composition. Custom walnut ceiling beams mirror a floor pattern of wood planks and travertine marble tiles, enveloping the room in warm, layered textures. Furnishings blend traditional club upholstery with vintage Bobbin chairs and sculpted case goods, all grounded by a rich Persian rug. The result is a luxury experience rooted in authenticity and history, designed to attract an upwardly mobile demographic.

The interior architecture was designed to bring the drywall shell to life. Architectural walls were added to define the bar and lounge, segmenting the space to create multiple functions. These forms allowed us to wrap the interiors in terracotta tile and wood paneling, adding warmth and texture to the expansive room. A catering kitchen and bar anchor a large café that opens to the outdoor patios, while custom-designed booths include monitor screens to support mobile work or entertainment.

Dedicated mobile workspaces were designed to meet the needs of the community’s active, professional demographic. Multiple pods serve a variety of business and entertainment functions, blending productivity with social connection. The walls are wrapped in the iconic “Beverly Hills Hotel” palm leaf wallpaper, an Instagram favorite that adds a playful energy to the space. Billiards and shuffleboard bring a gaming element to the communal cafés and lounge areas, creating a dynamic mix of work and leisure.

Creating scale in interior architecture requires precision and restraint. Sizing architectural elements to complement the volume of a space is always a challenge. Our goal was to use scale to balance drama with human connection. With 18-foot ceilings, we set out to craft a traditionally Spanish architectural form in proportion to a standard firebox. The fireplace is anchored on a generous hearth and recessed with a traditional Spanish tile surround. A graceful arch introduces scale at a human level, softening the experience, while a series of bantered sides rise up the wall to add shape and architectural depth. Wrapped in simple drywall, the fireplace comes to life with dramatic scale and proportion.
