Kalon

Kalon, located in Norterra in North Phoenix, sits adjacent to retail and dining, bringing a fresh addition to an already established marketplace. We positioned Kalon at the top of the market, creating a swank living experience designed to appeal to the demographic. The interiors offer a more upscale and refined atmosphere than the competition, defined by elevated experiences and luxurious materials paired with a hip, lounge-inspired energy. Our design features marble fireplaces, wood-screened walls, dramatic lighting, and rich green upholstery to create an immersive and sophisticated environment. The interiors flow seamlessly from one space to the next, each programmed for multiple functions yet unified by a continuous sense of luxury. Thoughtfully designed and strategically placed, Kalon delivers immediate value to the developer and a distinctly elevated living experience to its residents.

The materials palette is the grounding force in our design program. A selection of warm, light, and luxurious materials and finishes that feel refined and exclusive. Limestone floors bathe the interiors in soft luxury. A large-format marble tile wraps the two-story lobby fireplace, bringing warm color and pattern to the room. Soft upholstery and a book-filled table rest on a traditional geometric area rug. The human-scaled, two-sided fireplace opens to a café and coffee bar beyond, visually connecting residents and building community. The spaces are sprinkled with large-scale animal sculptures designed to engage users in conversation and bring a sense of humor to the refined interiors.

Our clubroom design divides the large volume of space into more intimate experiences. The media wall conceals structural columns and serves as a shared focal point for both areas. Wrapped in wood-patterned tile, it forms an architectural screen that defines two mirrored lounges: one designed for quiet entertaining and the other for more spirited gatherings. Each lounge features a custom 14-foot green velvet tufted sofa that sets the tone for the room’s confident style. A mix of movable tables, leather chairs, and flexible ottomans allows the spaces to adapt to different group sizes and conversation needs. The entertainment lounge includes a billiard table and card table to create a more interactive experience. Grounded by its own oversized sofa and dramatic spider lights, the lounge and gaming zones overlap to offer layered, luxurious experiences. Designing multiple types of spaces for smaller groups aligns with the lifestyle of our suburban demographic.

it makes you smile

After our refined and upscale design was approved by the client, they asked for a touch of humor: something to make people smile, spark conversation, and bring a sense of playfulness to the elegant interiors. We responded by adding a curated collection of animal sculptures throughout the spaces. Large orange bulldogs, black-and-white sheep, and oversized rubber ducks serve as whimsical works of art. Bright, bold, and unexpected, they bring joy and personality to the refined environment.

Mobile workspace is a key element in the programming for PB Development, with significant space devoted to creating a natural flow of people and facilitating interaction. Our program includes multiple types of mobile work facilities designed around the formality and purpose of each interaction. Anchored by a mail and parcel corridor, the area captures resident activity and energy with a sorting station, printer station, and beverage bar that blend attraction with convenience. Screened worktables float within the central core, illuminated by a series of architectural lamps that add visual drama. A conference room, informal meeting lounge, and wired community workspace offer multiple solutions for residents’ needs. Working from home in a suburban neighborhood is elevated by having a personal, upscale environment for connection, collaboration, and productivity.
